Shortly prior to last entry, I did a search online to try to find the poem I posted but couldn't find it. I, however, did find the authors website. I contacted her, writing a short but to the point email saying how much her poem has affected me over the years. I just now checked my email and found a reply from her. In it, she gave me a new hard copy of the poem, and, since it is slightly different from what I posted last night, I will reprint it here.

It is likely the only spot on the web that contains this beautiful piece now.

Lets see if I can pull this from memory, as my hard copy has been lost for some time.

Who decided this is who I am
Who weakened me that I should fall this way
Who foretold that I would always reach for this

And who has cracked my skin
And who has let you in
So you can see me now and here
Like this

Someone save the darkness
Someone kill the light

So I can breathe again

No stay
And suffocate me
I need your everything

For I am vacant here
Like a splitting neon sign
It flashes such a garish orange
An eyesore in the night

I think that's right.

Somehow this poem has been with me since I first heard it, many years ago. Felt like posting it today.

What can I say
About my day
Today?

I lost more than six inches of hair
Driving was not so fair
Just beware

I worked
I drank
I wanked

I took antibiotics
I watched two movies
I picked up taco bell

I also picked up a pen
And wrote the first poem
In nine months

Seems the stress of the last few weeks and months finally caught up to me.

Sick as a dog in winter.

Came on about 24 hours ago.

Got an appt tomorrow, already feel it heading to my chest, deep hard cough.

Sigh.

Sex. Duh.

Busiest week of the year at the bakery. And, my coworker kicked it off in style by ... calling in. Said he was puking. Also said he'd be fine to come in tomorrow. Hangover? Hmm.

Anyway, I got in at 8 am. I left at 9.45 pm. I had about 20 minutes off to eat MCD. Tired now.

In other news, earlier in the week I fixed our dvd player. After nearly 30 minutes of looking at it, I finally gave up. Was putting it back, and felt something moving. Short story, the belt to move the loading tray back and forth died. A quick trip to walmart and a box of small rubber bands for doing hair (97¢) later, it was working again. Beautiful.

Blah.

A) Depends on a lot of things, but it often takes longer than most people think.

B) Depends on how much involvement there was. Date a chick for two weeks and she dumps you, then by all means, but if we're talking 2 years, then TAKE SOME TIME ALONE DAMNIT!!! (though, random screws are more than perfectly fine)

Half raining half snowing on the way home today. Raining now, but, won't be surprised if it switches again within a couple of hours.

Maybe I should grab the snow shovel out of the shed...
